Solar innovation in community facilities
Since 2003, Sustainability Victoria and the Victorian Government have worked with a number of organisations to install solar design and technology when community buildings are upgraded. This reduces energy consumption and costs, while improving the indoor comfort. Buildings that have been improved through this work include schools, kindergartens, sporting facilities, childcare centres, arts centres and community health centres.

Energy and Water Task Force
Victorian households spend about $1300 each year on energy usage, which is the same as approximately three percent of an average income. In comparison, low income households energy bills can use up to seven percent of their income on energy bills.
Sustainability Victoria, the Department of Human Services and community sector organisations have partnered to create the Energy Task Force. This partnership aims to help low income families by lowering energy and water bills and improving home comfort.
Over 4500 homes have been retrofitted since 2003.
Quick Action: Staying Warm
